One of Buddy Rhode’s first students, Kelly Carr has been a major contributor to the growth of artisan concrete.  He founded Concrete Jungle in the Washington-D.C. area  after completing his apprenticeship with Buddy Rhodes in 1996.

“I saw Buddy’s work and just fell in love with concrete,” Kelly says.  “My father taught me early in life that it is not about the job, it’s about the craft and here was everything I wanted to be doing.”

Concrete Jungle’s commercial projects include M&T Bank Stadium (home of the Baltimore Ravens), the Pentagon, ESPN, the World Bank and the C.F. Martin Guitar headquarters.  Residential work continues to be a key element of Concrete Jungle business and Kelly’s work compliments many finer Washington-area homes.  Kelly is still as passionate about concrete as he was more than a decade ago. “It’s real, it has soul,” Kelly says of artisan concrete.  “I put my heart into my work and it always gives back.”
