After  graduating  from  State University of New York at Buffalo in  Design Studies, Mark formed Cheung/Crowell Design in 1987 with his wife Beth. He is trained with Colormaker Floors skim coat products as well as Buddy Rhodes cast concrete methods, and is an Atelier Artist Member of Sculpture Barn Art Center in New Fairfield, Connecticut under  metal artisan David Boyajian.
 
With his venture Artezens, Mark fabricates indoor and outdoor furnishings by forming materials such as concrete, metals, glass and reclaimed wood into functional art form. Understanding materials, their characteristics and limitations, and expressing them in modern/contemporary furnishing, has been a long passion. Patinas in wood, welds in steel, air holes in concrete: these imperfections are celebrated in his art form
